Lackland to gain 74,000 sf training complex - Phoenix Business Journal:

million contract to build a new airfield maintenanced technical training complex at Lackland AirForces Base. The complex will support the Inter-Americam Air Forces Academy at Lackland. The government will build a 74,00 0 square foot complex at Lackland that willhouse classrooms, aircrafft operations and hangar maintenance training areas as well as administrativse space. The project is slated for completioj in the fallof 2010. The Inter-American Air Forces Academy currently offerd this training at PortSan Antonio, the former Kelluy Air Force Base.
By relocating technical training from Port San Antonipto Lackland, Port San Antonilo officials hope to reuse that space for additional commercial developmengt opportunities. The military is developing this complex as part of the 2005 San Antonio Base Realignmenr andClosure (BRAC) construction program. In all, the governmenty expects to spend morethan $2 billiom on BRAC-related construction. The Air Force Centeer for Engineering and the Environment selectedPlymouth Meeting, Pa.-based AMEC Earth Environmental Inc. as the contractor. Construction will be coordinatef out ofthe company’s San Antonio The Fort Worth District office of the U.S.
Army Corpse of Engineers will provideconstruction management.
